A head on collision in Wells last night (November 12) has left the driver of a classic 1989 Mercedes W124 distraught.

John Wiseman of Dulcote was driving through Wells on his way home from work when a Land Rover turning right off Princes Road onto St Cuthbert Street collided with his car.

The incident took place at around 7pm at the junction between Tucker Street, Portway, Princes Road and St Cuthbert Street.

Eyewitnesses called emergency services who attended the scene. It is believed that there were no serious injuries but the Mercedes was wrecked.

Mr Wiseman is heartbroken at the loss of his beloved car which had done more than 200,000 miles.

He would like to thank the man and woman (Mathew of Wells and Emily of Shepton Mallet) who came to his assistance after the crash. He was very grateful for their help.
