Wells butchers F Griffiths and Sons will be offering a special discount during March for the city's senior citizens.

The Thank You Tuesday promotion will see all pensioners offered a 10 per cent discount on anything bought from the Wells shop, whether it's a joint, a handful of sausages or even just a slice of ham (there's no minimum order requirement).

Wells manager, Gerry Morris, who has been part of the Griffiths team since 1980, said: "Tuesday is our quietest day of the week.

"It was, traditionally, pension day at the post office so a lot of our trade on that day was from pensioners who had been out to collect their pensions and were now doing their weekly shop.

"People don't need to physically collect their pensions anymore so we hope that by offering this discount, we may encourage this group to make Tuesday their main shopping day again, getting out and about and seeing some familiar friendly faces.

"As a local family-run business, we love serving our community and we hope that this will help to show our appreciation to some of our most loyal and regular customers."

The offer will be available 7am to 5pm tomorrow (Tuesday March 3), Tuesday March 10, Tuesday March 17, Tuesday March 24 and Tuesday March 31.
