The full details of the Wells Climate Strike being held today (March 13) have been revealed.

Campaigners are gathering again to express their continued desire to push for environmental changes at local government level, and to therefore keep pressure on higher government.

The organisers say: "We are planning a peaceful, productive, mind-changing protest bringing like-minded folk together to form a good-natured gathering with speeches and a short march.

"The Croscombe drumming group will call us to outside Wells Town Hall from 10.30am with speeches from students at the Blue School, representatives from Wells Climate Emergency committee, Angela Terry, a climate scientist from Wells, and Claire from Wells Climate Strike.

"Our strike, this time, will have an added focus on Fast Fashion v Preloved Fashion. We will hear from Claire Laudicina and her pre-loved fashion models on why we should ditch fast fashion.

"We have organised a Preloved Clothes Swap where clothes brought can be swapped from the rails.

"Wells and Glastonbury Extinction Rebellion are hoping to run a blockprinting stall to print on newly acquired pre-loved clothes to upcycle and give them new life.

"Our friends at Sustainable Wells will be running a carbon footprint station to help you learn about reducing your impact on our earth and the winner on the day will receive a copy of Greta Thunberg's book.

"This will also count towards the carbon challenge set by MP James Heappey, in February, to see who reduced their footprint the most during three months.

"XR will also be performing a flash mob after the March, when it finishes, outside the town hall and costumes are involved.

"Outside Wells Cathedral will be a myth busting vegan food stall with some mini samples kindly donated by prize winning Burns The Bread and much more.

"Also there will be some electric vehicles to inspire and dispel some myths and that EVs can be a big part of the future."
