Crandon Springs Care Home welcomes new Head Chef as he prepares a Father's Day feast

Crandon Springs Care Home in Wells, Somerset, is delighted to introduce Simon Jackson as its new Head Chef.
With over 40 years of culinary experience, Simon brings a wealth of knowledge and creativity, and a commitment to resident wellbeing.
Simon's culinary journey began in the Royal Navy; this early experience instilled in him the value of good nourishment to maintain physical health and emotional wellbeing, and the importance of precision and team work, all qualities he has carried throughout his career.
Following his military service, Simon honed his skills in some of Wells' most respected establishments, such as Rugantinos, and former Café 21, and The Red Lion Hotel. His background also includes valuable experience in care home catering, providing him with insight into the unique nutritional needs of older adults.
At Crandon Springs Care Home, Simon is embracing the opportunity to design delicious, home-cooked meals tailored to residents' preferences and dietary requirements. He is passionate about making a meaningful difference through food, commenting, "It's incredibly rewarding to see the pleasure a well-prepared meal can bring to someone's day, alongside vital nutritional benefits."
Simon marked his recent arrival at Crandon Springs with a special Father's Day Sunday Lunch on 15 June, where some residents were joined by their families to enjoy a meal together.
The event featured a delicious menu prepared by Simon and his team, and the dining rooms were filled with conversation and the warmth of family connections.
As a father of three boys himself, Simon understands the importance of family and community. He is already planning a series of themed food events and looking forward to working with his team to cater for Crandon Springs special events, including Cocktails & Canopes on Friday 4 July, the Summer Fair BBQ on Saturday 9 August, and the Dog Show on Saturday 6 September.
These events are open to residents, families, and the wider community, reflecting Crandon Springs' commitment to community engagement.
Meg Cleal, General Manager of Crandon Springs, shared her enthusiasm: "Simon's warmth, skill, and dedication are already making a wonderful impression at Crandon Springs, and we're thrilled to have him leading our kitchen team. We're looking forward to the delicious meals and community events he will bring to our home."
