Care home welcomes Italian barber for a special day of pampering
By Ruth Cooke 4th Nov 2026
Residents at Crandon Springs Care Home in Wells, Somerset, enjoyed a traditional Italian barbershop experience when the home welcomed Pasquale from Pasquale's Barber Shop in Weston-Super-Mare.
During his visit, Pasquale treated the home's gentlemen residents to a range of personal grooming services, including haircuts, shaves and eyebrow, ear and nose trims. The visit offered them the opportunity to relax, enjoy a little pampering and conversation, and experience the confidence and wellbeing that can come with feeling their best.
Pasquale's visit was particularly meaningful, as his own experience of having his father move into care inspired him to bring professional barbering services into care homes. His aim is to ensure that people living in care, including those with dementia, can continue to enjoy the personal grooming routines and individual attention they have always valued.
As a dementia-friendly barber, Pasquale understands the importance of providing a welcoming and considerate service. During his visit to Crandon Springs, he ensured everyone could enjoy the experience in a way that suited their individual needs and preferences.
Comments from the residents show just how much the experience was enjoyed. Mike said "That's much better. I feel like myself again", Peter said "I feel ten years younger!", and Neville commented, "Very nice, he's a good chap."
Following his visit, Pasquale shared his appreciation for the residents, the care home and its staff, commenting: "What made the visit even more special was seeing how happy the residents were. Their smiles, laughter, and enjoyment made the experience incredibly rewarding, and it was a privilege to bring a little extra joy and a touch of traditional barbershop service into their day. Crandon Springs Care Home is a wonderful and welcoming home and the staff were helpful, caring, and attentive."
Darius Ivana, Crandon Springs General Manager, said: "The visit was warmly received by our residents who deserve to feel good about themselves, and it is wonderful to see the difference that something as personal as a haircut or a shave can make. Pasquale brought not only his professional skills but also warmth, kindness, good humour, and a genuine understanding of the importance of individual care. We look forward to welcoming him back soon."
