Crandon Springs Care Home kicks off the festive season with Christmas Fayre

By Ruth Cooke   27th Nov 2025

Crandon Springs Care Home in Wells, launched its festive celebrations in style at the weekend as around 100 residents, families, friends, and local visitors came together for its annual Christmas Fayre, complete with handcrafted gifts, live music, and a special visit from Santa Claus.

The home was dressed for the occasion, with sparkling lights, beautifully decorated Christmas trees, and seasonal displays setting the scene for an afternoon of festive fun. Local independent businesses showcased a range of handcrafted pebble art, jewellery, plants, and high-quality stationery and gifts, giving those who attended a perfect opportunity to start their Christmas shopping while supporting local makers and businesses.

Guests enjoyed live Christmas music, mulled wine, mince pies, and a tempting selection of homemade cakes prepared by the Crandon Springs team. Traditional fayre favourites, including a raffle, bottle tombola, and lucky dip, helped raise £200 for the Residents' Fund which supports special life enrichment events throughout the year.

A highlight of the afternoon was an early appearance from Santa Claus, who posed for photos and spread Christmas cheer among residents and families. One particularly special moment saw baby Laurie, 10 weeks old and the grandchild of resident Archie, have his very first festive photo with Santa.

Crandon Springs Manager Meg Cleal said: "We were thrilled to welcome so many people from Wells and the surrounding areas to our Christmas Fayre. Events like this mean a great deal to our residents, and seeing the home filled with laughter, conversation, and community spirit was wonderful."

Activities Coordinator Emily Merchant added: "Our team worked hard to make the fayre special, and seeing the residents so happy made it all worthwhile. We're very grateful to the local stallholders, to Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule, and to all the families and friends who helped make this year's fayre such a success."

Crandon Springs Care Home is run by Barchester Healthcare.
