Locals in Wells are being invited to help name a new residential development in the town, with a £100 prize on offer for the winning entry.

Churchill Living, the developer behind the project, is asking residents to come up with a fitting name for the new 47-apartment Lodge, which will be built in the heart of the city. Entries can be submitted via email to [email protected].

The development, which has secured planning permission, will feature one- and two-bedroom apartments, each fully self-contained for privacy and independence. Residents will also have access to an Owner's Lounge with a coffee bar and views of landscaped gardens.

Organisers suggest looking to Wells' rich history for inspiration. The city's medieval lanes, historic buildings, and High Street water supply, first granted by Bishop Bekynton in 1451, all provide potential sources for a meaningful name.

Caroline Haswell, marketing manager for Churchill Living's South West division, said: "I'm really looking forward to seeing what name suggestions we get submitted for our new development in Wells. The town has such a rich history that can offer some lovely inspiration for the name."
