Wells Cathedral has announced its programme of services and events for Lent and Holy Week, offering opportunities for reflection, worship and community throughout one of the most important seasons in the Christian calendar.

Palm Sunday – 13 April

  • 8.30am: Holy Communion (BCP)
  • 10.30am: Cathedral Eucharist (Vicars Choral)
  • 3.00pm: Passiontide Meditation * (Cathedral Choir)

Monday of Holy Week – 14 April

  • 8.00am: Morning Liturgy
  • 5.15pm: Choral Evensong * (Vicars Choral) with Address

Tuesday of Holy Week – 15 April

  • 8.00am: Morning Liturgy
  • 10.00am: Diocesan Chrism Eucharist with the Blessing of Oils
  • 5.15pm: Choral Evensong * (Vicars Choral) with Address

Wednesday of Holy Week – 16 April

  • 8.00am: Morning Liturgy
  • 5.15pm: Choral Evensong * (Vicars Choral) with Address

Maundy Thursday – 17 April

  • 8.00am: Morning Liturgy
  • 5.15pm: Evening Prayer (said)
  • 7.30pm: Solemn Eucharist of the Last Supper * (Cathedral Choir)

Good Friday – 18 April

  • 8.00am: Morning Liturgy
  • 12.00pm: Three Hours' Devotion
  • 2.00pm: The Final Hour (Cathedral Choir)
  • 5.15pm: Evening Prayer (said)

Holy Saturday – 19 April

  • 8.00am: Morning Prayer
  • 5.15pm: Evening Prayer (said)
  • 7.30pm: Easter Vigil (Cathedral Choir)

Easter Day – 20 April

  • 8.00am: Holy Communion (BCP)
  • 9.30am: Choral Matins (Cathedral Choir)
  • 11.00am: Festal Eucharist (Cathedral Choir)
  • 3.00pm: Festal Evensong * (Cathedral Choir)

Services marked with an asterisk (*) will feature preaching by the Venerable Jonathan Smith, Archdeacon Emeritus of St Albans.

All are welcome to attend the services, which mark the journey from Lent through Holy Week to the celebration of the Resurrection.
