The autumn programme at Cedars Hall in Wells has been announced, and it features everything from choral ensembles, blues, folk, classical, jazz, talks, films and even a Vienna Fest.

To start the Jazz Encounters series, the hall welcomes back the award-winning Clare Teal and her trio along with Pee Wee Ellis on 4th October.

During November the venue has the internationally recognised saxophonist and composer Iain Ballamy and his Quarter playing on 8th November and on 30th November the British jazz-funk artist James Taylor and his Quartet will be entertaining with tunes from the boogaloo funk of the 60s and the rare-groove style that followed.

Jazz pianist, composer, bandleader and broadcaster Julian Joseph and Wells Cathedral School's resident Swing Machine Jazz Orchestra will be performing jazz interpretations of The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky, arranged by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn on Saturday 14th December.

Gavin Lazarus and The Foxes (who were such a hit at Cedars Hall for the 60s night) will be returning for two evenings, the first on Saturday 21st September for a Vintage Vegas: A Night at The Sands, a cabaret night of mid-century vintage hip featuring songs from the Rat Pack, Ray Charles, Fred Astaire and Cole Porter.

Their next performance will be on Saturday 21st December for a Christmas show It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

All concerts are bookable online or you can call the box office between Monday to Friday 9.30am to 12.30pm on 01749 834483.

Look out for brochures around Wells, or call the box office and they will pop one in the post.
