Bishop’s Palace Gardener marks 30 years with the RHS partner gardens

It's been 30 years since Rob Hole joined the team at The Bishop's Palace, having started in 1995 as part of what was then a YTS placement.
Rob was (and is) employed by the Church Commissioners as a plantsman and spent a lot of time in the original kitchen garden, now the Community Garden.
Head Gardener, James Cross says "Rob is a really valued member of our gardening team, often referred to as 'the oracle' because of his fountain of knowledge of the Palace, Wells and Somerset in general. He's always been kind, thoughtful, dependable and remembers everything I forget!"
Rob has worked with four Bishops during his time at the Palace, experienced fire and flood, one lottery project and lots of filming!
The Palace Trust – the charitable organisation which manages the Palace site – looked very different to the current thriving visitor attraction in Wells which is now open to visitors year-round.
