A biomass burner catching fire led to the total destruction of an outbuilding in Binegar.

The incident occurred at about 6.30pm on Sunday, 15 October, prompting the property owner to call the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. Firefighters from Shepton Mallet, Wells and Glastonbury were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the crews discovered the building significantly engulfed in flames. They employed two hose reel jets and one main jet to combat the blaze. A later update from the fire service confirmed that the building had been completely destroyed by the fire.

A local farmer aided the efforts by using farm machinery to dismantle parts of the structure, making it easier for firefighters to control the blaze. By 10.20pm on Sunday, firefighters had cleared the area and identified the fire as accidental.

According to the incident report from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, the building and its contents were fully destroyed. Firefighting equipment used included two hose reel jets, one main jet, a thermal imaging camera, a triple extension ladder, drag forks and various small tools.
