Barclays confirms date of closure of Wells branch

Barclays Bank in Wells has confirmed that it will be closing the doors to the Market Place branch on August 12.
In a report released on May 6, the bank cited four main reasons for the closure:
•The number of counter transactions has gone down in the two years to March 2020, and additionally 86% of our branch customers also use other ways to do their banking such as online and by telephone .
• Customers using other ways to do their banking has increased by 10% since 2015.
• In the past 12 months, 16% of this branch's customers have been using nearby branches.
• Only 102 customers use this branch exclusively for their banking.
This means that the two nearest branches of Barclays bank will be Frome (15.9 miles) and Bath (19.1 miles)
