A festive carol service is set for Wednesday, 10 December, at 11 am in Wells Cathedral, organised by Age UK Somerset and sponsored by the Somerset Care Group.
The free event will feature traditional readings and carols, plus a performance by the Taunton Deane Male Voice Choir. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to ensure seating. Donations on the day will support Age UK Somerset's work supporting older people across Somerset.
Phil Dolan, chief executive of Age UK Somerset, said: "Christmas should be a time of togetherness, but sadly, many older people in Somerset will face it alone. We are very grateful to the Somerset Care Group for their continued sponsorship of our carol service, which enables us to provide a wonderful and joyous opportunity for the community to get together, while also helping us continue our essential work."
A spokesperson for Somerset Care Group added: "We know how important it is for people to feel part of the community in which they live, and the huge benefits of singing together on health and wellbeing. We're really looking forward to raising the roof of Wells Cathedral in festive song, and lifting spirits in the process."
No booking is required. For those with accessibility or seating requests, or bringing a group, contact Age UK Somerset in advance at 01823 345627 or via email [email protected].
