Wells Cathedral’s candlelit carol concerts set to return for Christmas 2025

Tickets for one of Wells' most magical Christmas events are set to go on sale — and locals are being urged to act fast if they want a seat.
The Cathedral's much-loved Carols by Candlelight concerts will return this December, with performances on Friday 19, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 December 2025, each beginning at 7pm.
Held in near-darkness and illuminated by more than 3,000 flickering candles, the concerts combine seasonal choral music, festive poetry and readings from a special guest in what's become one of Somerset's most atmospheric celebrations of Christmas.
The concerts feature the internationally recognised Wells Cathedral Choir, whose performances are known for their emotional depth, technical brilliance and ability to stop audiences in their tracks.
For those wanting to make a full evening of it, the Cathedral's award-winning café, The Loft, will be serving a two-course dinner at 5pm before each performance. Pre-booking is required and costs £21.50 per head, with meal reservations available through the same page as concert tickets.
Audience members can also dedicate a candle to a loved one for £2, with messages displayed around the base and optionally printed in the concert programme as a keepsake.
Proceeds from the concerts will support the charitable work of the Cathedral throughout the year.
Tickets go on sale on Thursday 17 July 2025 via the Cathedral's website. Organisers expect demand to be high, so early booking is strongly recommended.
