This weekend, Wells is set to come alive with a variety of events that cater to all tastes and interests, from arts and crafts workshops to musical performances and community gatherings.

On Friday, 26th January, McKenzie Interiors Studio invites crafting enthusiasts to discover the art of creating a piped cushion. Running from 10 am to 1 pm, this hands-on workshop is perfect for those looking to add a personal touch to their home decor. With only three spots available, attendees will receive personalised guidance for a fee of £55, covering all materials. Those interested can secure their place by contacting Karen at 07597452269 or through Facebook at @mckenzieInteriors. More information is available here.

The same evening, Cedars Hall is set to host acclaimed British pianist Leon McCawley, known for his communicative playing. Starting his performance with Haydn and traversing through the works of Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Chopin, and Schubert, McCawley's concert is a must-attend for music lovers. The event details can be found here.

On Saturday, 27th January, the Wells Repair Café, under the banner of Sustainable Wells, will be open from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at St Thomas' Church.

The café is an excellent place to get items repaired and to learn more about sustainable practices. Continuing the theme of sustainability, a Freecycle event will be hosted by Sustainable Wells on Sunday, 28th January, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm at Priory Rd, encouraging the community to reuse and recycle.

Sunday will also see several spiritual and community events. Morning Worship will be held at St Cuthbert's Church, followed by Sunday Brunch at Christ Church, Coxley. The day will conclude with a Candlemas Evensong at Christ Church, Henton.

The Bishops Palace is gearing up for its Members' Classic Film Night on 31st January, featuring the 1949 classic 'Kind Hearts and Coronets.' This exclusive event for members starts at 6 pm, with doors opening at 5.45 pm. Attendees are welcome to bring snacks and refreshments. Booking details can be found in the Members' Newsletter or by contacting [email protected].

Adding a spiritual dimension to the weekend, Wells Cathedral hosts the Soul Soundings event on Friday evening. Led by Jane Harris, this special participatory singing event promises to be a beautiful experience, exploring the Cathedral's acoustics from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. A portion of the proceeds will support FareShare South West.

In addition to these events, the Wells Film Centre continues to showcase the latest movies throughout the weekend, offering tickets at an affordable price of £5.

This vibrant mix of events in Wells this weekend promises to bring the community together through arts, music, spirituality, and sustainability, showcasing the city's rich cultural tapestry.
