Wells Freecycle is Homeless!

Sustainable Wells says its long-running Sunday Freecycle must move after losing use of Priory Road car park.
A long-running community Freecycle event in Wells is searching for a new home after losing its regular venue in the city centre.
Sustainable Wells says it will no longer be able to hold its bi-monthly Sunday Freecycles at Priory Road car park, where the popular reuse events have taken place for several years.
Organisers thanked the owners of the site, Wells Parking Co Ltd, for supporting the initiative over that time.
The group said the location had worked particularly well because of its central position, making it easy for people to attend both on foot and by car.
Community group searching for new venue
Freecycle events allow residents to give away unwanted items so they can be reused by others rather than thrown away.
The gatherings have become a regular fixture for people looking to reduce waste and pass on useful items within the local community.
Sustainable Wells said it is now exploring possible replacement locations around the city.
There are several well-placed car parks in Wells owned either by Somerset Council or private companies which could potentially host the events, organisers said.
The group is now asking residents to share ideas for possible venues that could allow the Freecycle events to continue.
Please send ideas for possible venues to [email protected].
