- Saturday 22nd October 2022
- 10am-5pm
A one-day creative writing workshop based on the Black Death in Wells, 1348-1351.
Join historian Rev Dr Mark Hutchinson and author Beth Webb, co-authors of 'Broken Angels' the historical fictionalised history of events at Glastonbury Abbey in 1408, for a day of exploration, creativity and enjoyment at the workshop 'Plague at the Palace'.
The day will begin will a short talk on the history of the Plague in Wells, 1348-1351, followed by a tour of part of the grounds to put these events into context. This will be followed with an introduction on how to structure a story and create a satisfying ending. Students will have plenty of time to write, with full support from Mark and Beth.
Participants will be encouraged to experiment in any genre they please, including poetry, or to have a go at illustrating their ideas.
The day will end with a read-around and friendly help and suggestions (if wanted).
