21 Mar 2026
Saturday 21 March
Join Wells Cathedral Oratorio Society in the awe-inspiring setting of Wells Cathedral for a powerful evening of choral music combining deep reflection and blazing energy.
Duruflé's Requiem is a luminous, consoling work rooted in Gregorian chant, with harmonies that seem to glow in the Cathedral's acoustic. In exhilarating contrast, Haydn's Nelson Mass is one of the composer's most dramatic and triumphant sacred works, full of urgency, brilliance and joyful momentum.
Wells Cathedral Oratorio Society is joined by Southern Sinfonia as the orchestra, conducted by Timothy Parsons, with soloists Ana Beard Fernández (soprano), Marta Fontanals-Simmons (alto), Matthew Minter (tenor) and Angus McPhee (baritone).
