Saturday 7 February
The annual performance of Benjamin Britten's much-loved Ceremony of Carols is a highlight of the Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust's calendar and is always eagerly anticipated.
Britten chooses poems which tell a story about the birth of Christ and it is traditionally performed around Candlemas to mark the close of the Christmas season. Beautifully written for both the upper voices and the harp, Ceremony of Carols is regarded as one of Britten's finest works.
WCCT is delighted to announce that the Choristers will be joined, once again, by Mared Pugh-Evans, HM The King's Harpist. The performance is directed by Timothy Parsons, Director of Music.
Tickets are available on the door but it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment from www.wcct.co.uk or telephone 01749 684738. The performance is in support of the Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust, working to ensure that talented children from all backgrounds can access the unique musical education and experience offered at Wells Cathedral as a Chorister. Tickets are free but a donation of £10 per adult and £5 per child is encouraged.
