WOWFEST 2026 – CARMINA BURANA AT WELLS CATHEDRAL
As part of WOWFest: Wells Orchestral Weekend 2026, the WOWFest Community Chorus and Bristol Classical Players perform Carl Orff's mighty Carmina Burana in the spectacular setting of Wells Cathedral.
Written in 1936 and based on a collection of medieval poetry, Carmina Burana is one of the most thrilling and recognisable works in the choral repertoire, famous for its dramatic opening chorus O Fortuna.
The concert opens with performances by the Haydn Youth String Orchestra (Netherlands), featuring Elgar's Serenade for Strings and Mendelssohn's Symphony for String Orchestra No. 10.

WOWFest: Wells Orchestral Weekend 2026
From 10-13th July WOWFest will celebrate its 4th edition, with another stellar line-up of young musicians from around the world giving free performances in Wells' most iconic venues. This year's festival will welcome 300 musicians from the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, USA and Brazil! There will be a series of concerts in Cedars Hall, Wells Cathedral, St Thomas & St Cuthbert's churches, Wookey Hole and the Bishop's Palace.
