Contemporary Meets Medieval

From Saturday 3 to 31 August 2024 Wells Art Contemporary (WAC) provides a unique opportunity to see some of the world's finest contemporary art set within the magnificent surrounds of Wells Cathedral, the heart of the medieval quarter of England's smallest city.

The exhibition comprises a white wall gallery of 121 selected works of multimedia art within the Cloisters, as well as 19 site-specific art installations studded throughout the cathedral and its grounds. The installations have been selected by a prestigious panel of selectors - including Jacquiline Creswell, an experienced curator of art in sacred spaces - for their responses to the architectural, spatial and spiritual aspects of this unique venue.

Entry to WAC is included with admission to the Cathedral. A virtual exhibition will also be available to view on the website for those who are unable to visit in person.
