Congratulations to 16-year-old Wells singer/songwriter Hetta Falzon, who has now been selected for the final 10 in the Song Academy Young Songwriter 2021 competition, for the second successive year.
Last year, at just 15 years old, Wells Cathedral School student Hetta was runner up of the whole Young Songwriter of the Year Competition 2020, with her song Obsession.

There was much excitement on the moat at the Bishop's Palace in Wells this morning (May 2) as the first cygnets hatched on the nest of the famous palace swans.
Two avid Swan Cam fans noticed movement on the nest around 9am this morning and notified the palace via Facebook and email.

School children from Wells - aged four to 14 - are being encouraged to design a new stamp to commemorate pandemic heroes and if their design is chosen, win money for their school.
Eight designs will be chosen to become special stamps, which will be seen by the Queen and then go on sale across the UK.

All recycling and rubbish collections in the week of the early May Bank Holiday on Monday May 3 will be one day later, Somerset Waste Partnership (SWP) has confirmed.
With no collections on Bank Holiday Monday, the week's day changes, from Monday's pick-ups on Tuesday through to Friday's taking place on Saturday May , will affect recycling, rubbish, garden waste, clinical, assisted and bulky waste collections, and waste container deliveries.
