Shepton Mallet gymnastics club compete at National school finals
Shepton Mallet Gymnastics Club competed in the National Schools Tumbling Finals in Stoke-on-Trent on the 10th May.
Alice, Alfie, Wesley and Elsie all demonstrated outstanding performances with three clean runs each.
Alfie McCulloch, from St Cuthbert's Junior School, smashed all three runs at Stoke's Fenton Manor, and proudly took home the bronze medal. Alfie's runs were strong and dynamic with the scores being extremely close. He was only 0.05 away from gold!
Teammate Wesley, from Evercreech Primary School, is the youngest of the squad and gained valuable experience of a National competition. Wesley had three clean runs and finished in 9th place.
One of Shepton Mallet Gymnastic Club's senior gymnasts Alice Dillon, from Wells Blue School, did the club proud with her runs placing her in 12th place in a tough group of nearly 30 tumblers.
Last up on what was a fantastic day was Elsie Seager from Millfield. Elsie never fails to shine with her tumbles. She was in a huge group of gymnasts, but this did not stop her coming 6th.
Shepton Mallet Gymnastics Club are over the moon with all the tumblers that travelled to Stoke-on-Trent for this National competition. The day was enjoyed by all and showcased many outstanding performances.
