Police have identified the motorcyclist who died following a collision on the B3135 Plummers Lane near Priddy, on Monday 7 May, as 44-year-old Clive Peter Rainey, of Bridgwater.

"Clive and Hayley had just celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary.

He was Hayley's best friend, an incredibly loving man with a great sense of humour and a brilliant, devoted dad to sons Joe, 16 and Will, 14.

He also leaves a twin brother, Paul, and sister-in-law Claire.

"He enjoyed spending time with his family, racing remote-controlled cars and helicopters with his boys, as well taking great pride in his garden.

"His passion was motorbikes.

His bikes were immaculate and he loved watching motorsport, either live or on television.

He loved riding his motorbikes with other family members along favourite routes.

Clive recently took the whole family to watch MotoGP at Silverstone.

"Clive will also be much missed by his colleagues at TMB Patterns, where he had worked as an engineer since the age of 17.

" Family members ask that their privacy be respected as they come to terms with their loss.

Fire Control received a call from someone reporting smoke coming from an electrical box inside their property. Control were able to confirm that all persons were able to evacuate the property safely.
One fire engine from Glastonbury, one from Somerton and one from Wells were mobilised to the incident.
On arrival crews confirmed there to be a fire in the hallway involving an electrical box and requested attendance of the electricity board.
11:43 Crews were working to extinguish the fire using two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, one attack jet, one safety jet and two CO2 extinguishers. The third fire engine was also stood down as crews advised they were not required for this incident.
Final Details
This fire was involving an electrical consumer unit which has been completely destroyed by the fire. There was also severe smoke damage to the hallway of the property and light smoke damage to the ground floor. The cause of the fire was accidental and duty of care has been handed back to the occupier and Western Power who are now in attendance.

THE history and architecture of Wells will be the inspiration for artist Ruth Ames-White to create a walkable mosaic map of the city centre that is set to become a landmark in its own right.

Mendip District Council has given permission for the mosaic to be sited near the bandstand in the Recreation Ground, and fundraising for the Wells in Mosaic project, which is expected to cost in the region of £80,000, has now begun.

WELLS Chamber of Commerce and Tourism has suggested that the skate park near Waitrose be moved to Wells Recreation Ground to create room for more parking spaces.

The chamber's comments come in response to Mendip District Council's draft car park strategy for the district for 2018-2022, which has been circulated to key stakeholders such as town councils and chambers of commerce for their comments before it is considered by the council's Cabinet on May 21.
