The planning application to expand Bristol Airport, the nearest major airport to Wells, was rejected by North Somerset Council yesterday (February 10).

At the opening of the debate at the special Planning and Regulatory committee meeting, Cllr Steve Hogg (Wrington) proposed a motion calling on members to refuse the application.

After a first half to forget for Wells City, who were not at the races, they came out of the traps quickly in the second period and controlled the game to beat Portishead Town 4-0 and deservedly get the three points.

Wells had the first chance of the game on three minutes as a delicate lobbed ball by Tom Hill found Harry Foster but his first time effort on the half volley came back off the base of the post.

An extension has been agreed until March 31

Hopes are high that Wells city centre's Post Office can be switched to a new venue without a break in service.

Wells City Council owns the current site in the Market Place and have agreed an extension to March 31 of the Post Office's lease, which expired in 2013, to allow them extra time to complete their move to a shop in the High Street.

Both of those involved in the late crash in Dinder were taken to hospital, and thought to be fairly seriously injured, according to the Ambulance Service media service.

One of those involved in the crash at Long Street was taken by land ambulance to hospital, after being treated at the scene, the other was airlifted.
