Like many events The Great Mendip Rugby Walk, which was scheduled to take place in March, was postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

This has now been rearranged to take place (virtually) from 1 - 31 May 2020 and Candlelight Care, who organise the yearly event, are hoping that participants new and old will take on the 6.5 mile challenge whilst adhering to their daily exercise allowance.

Throughout Saturday and into the early hours of Sunday morning (April 18 to 19), music staff at Wells Cathedral School completed a 120-mile 24-hour challenge to raise money for the charity Help Musicians UK and the Musicians Benevolent fund.

Every hour over a 24-hour period, 24 Wells staff each ran, walked, cycled or skated five miles, raising a total of more than £4,000 (including Gift Aid) to date.

Freddie and Harry Beasley from Wells have helped their family set up a food delivery service that provides fresh fruit and vegetables to key workers and vulnerable self-isolators.

Twelve-year-old Freddie and 13-year-old Harry have helped to deliver almost 400 Somerset Hampers, which contain fresh produce including fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy and meat boxes, to Wells, Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury, Somerton, Bristol, Bath and Street.
