It is some weeks now since the organisers of Priddy Folk Festival recognised that they could not host the celebrated annual event in July, but instead have rolled the event over to 2021.
However, the organisers have not been idle and this week sees the marking of the run up to what would have been the festival weekend with an exciting project.

All "business as usual" items are now being accepted at Dulcote Recycling Centre.
The site can now take cardboard, as well as commercial waste and other waste you pay to dispose of – including tyres, gas bottles, soil and hardcore, vehicle parts, plasterboard and asbestos, but with card payment only.

Sylvia and Tony Robbins are happy to say that the Venue in Wells will be re-opening on Saturday July 4.
However, they have had to make some important changes to both their opening hours and the way they operate.
Residents in Wells can now take an advantage of a service offered by the Co-op – and get their prescriptions delivered direct to their door at no extra cost.
Though the service is a permanent one going forward, it is particularly important during this crisis time of social distancing guidelines.

Wells firefighters helped to put out a stable block on fire overnight in Pilton, that saw neighbouring properties having to be evacuated.
Two fire crews from Shepton Mallet, together with a water carrier from Bridgwater, were initially mobilised following calls reporting a barn on fire in Higher Westholme Road just after 2am today (June 28).

Mendip District Council is raising a flag from its head office on Armed Forces Day today (June 27).
The gesture is an opportunity to celebrate the men and women of the Armed Forces, past and present, who work across the world, defending our country and its interests. It's also to show support for service families, reservists, our veterans and cadets.
There are scheduled to be temporary traffic lights on the A39 Glastonbury Road in Wells next week.
The lights are due to be in place on Tuesday (June 30) and Wednesday (July 1), near to Tincknells and the Priory Health Park.

A new restaurant could soon be coming to Wells after a planning application for the former Subhouse site was given the green light by Mendip District Council.
The application for the change of use of existing building to A3 (restaurant and cafe) with ancillary A5 (hot food and takeaway) services, associated works to include single-storey rear extension to replace and extend existing rear extension at the ex-Subhouse restaurant, Princes Road, Wells, has been made by Anthony Rendell.
