With only one week to go until the voter registration deadline for next month's local elections, anyone who is not already registered and wanting to vote, must make sure they are registered in time.

The deadline to register to vote is midnight on 14 April. You can apply online at gov.uk/register-to-vote. It takes just five minutes.

You can nominate any young person who lives in Somerset who has done something in the past 12 months to make you proud.

Campaign for Better Transport research has revealed that bus services in the South West have declined by 29% in the last decade, with the pandemic having a devastating effect.

The transport charity is calling for a national, Government-led campaign to encourage people back on board and turn around the fortune of buses.

When the audience were asked from the stage "Does Wells have talent?" they roared their approval.

The occasion was the first joint concert between by students from the city's two secondary schools and the crowd loved it.

With the news that government is giving a £150 rebate to help with the cost of living, comes the inevitable fraud alert. Mendip residents are being warned that criminals are calling people and asking for their bank details in order to receive the rebate. This is a scam.

Your District Council would never cold call you and ask for your personal bank details over the phone. If you receive such a call, hang up and report it.

Local elections will take place on May 5.

For the first year, the newly elected councillors will be responsible for existing Somerset County Council services and will oversee the creation of a new single Somerset Council. Then from April 1, 2023, when the new Somerset Council comes into being, they will assume responsibility for all council services in Somerset.
