Working together to beat crime in Wells
By Philip Welch 7th Apr 2026
Cybercrime was the hot topic at the latest meeting of Wells Neighbourhood Watch with an expert talk from Issy Corby who advised on how to identify and prevent scams.
She said fraud costs the UK £ 219 billion every year – 44 times the value of the Crown Jewels.
PC Darren Pearson warned young people about how sexting brings a risk of blackmail.
The meeting was the last chaired by Wells Neighbourhood Watch lead Jules Tressider who is moving to the South Coast.
Nick Southwell has taken over from Jules and said: "I will continue the good work done by Jules, working with the local police and our street coordinators to help make Wells a safer place for the whole community.
"I aim to achieve full Neighbourhood Watch coverage of the city in the coming months."
