Wookey Hole plans treehouse and Dinosaur Valley revamp
By Laura Linham 19th Oct 2026
A witches' treehouse, a mammoth tower and a woodland adventure trail feature in plans to revamp Dinosaur Valley at Wookey Hole.
The attraction near Wells is seeking planning permission for new family play features and improvements to routes through the outdoor area.
Documents submitted with the application identify a series of proposed structures, including a witches' abandoned treehouse, a "wonky cliff walkway" and a rickety bridge leading to a mammoth tower.
Other drawings cover Dino Cove, Witches Hollow, an ancient tower and boardwalks. A woodland hideout, maze lookout tower and an area for younger children also form part of the submission.
The proposals concern the existing Dinosaur Valley area at the High Street attraction. Alongside the play features, the application includes plans showing the proposed layout, foundations and surfacing.
Somerset Council has registered the application, reference 2026/1992/FUL, and has yet to issue a decision. Its published timetable lists a site notice expiry date of Friday, 6 November, and a determination deadline of Thursday, 10 December.
Residents can view the proposals and submit comments through the council's planning application page.
