If your limbs are still in hibernation after Christmas, Wells has just the thing to get them moving again.

Helena Eden's Fun Dancing sessions return to nearby Ston Easton this Thursday, with feelgood music and easy routines to shake off the post-festive slump.

Interested in history? Start your weekend deep underground — or at least in theory — at the Glastonbury Pagan Moot: Geoff Stray – Glastonbury Underground on Friday, kicking off at 7.30pm at the Beckets Inn. Expect talk of long-lost chapels, psychic mediums, thermal drones and tunnels beneath the Tor. Not your average Friday night.

Over in Street, it's a more grounded affair with the Avalon Wellness Community Meetup at Crispin Community Centre, 10am to midday. It's a £14 ticket, but you get a talk from Dorset's Becky Colwell on how to sell yourself at wellness events — no crystals required.

Writers, this one's for you. The Writing Retreat with The Write Assistant promises a full Saturday of guided exercises, free-flow scribbling and proper peace and quiet. BYO pen. The location's tranquil, the vibes are gentle, and the biscuits are probably homemade.

Sunday, and it's wassailing time. The Middlewick in Glastonbury is inviting everyone — pots, pans and small children included — to take part in a centuries-old orchard-blessing ritual involving cider, toast, noise and tradition. The procession starts in the afternoon, and your £10 ticket includes warm cider, sausage rolls and a chance to shout at trees.

On Monday, Street's Carers Group is back at the Crispin Centre from 10:30am — a relaxed, friendly space for anyone offering unpaid care. There's also another listing for the same group here with a bit more detail, including upcoming guest speakers. If you're thinking of going, give Cath a ring first in case of changes.

In Shepton, vocal cords get a gentle workout at Singing for Wellbeing and Joy, a relaxed, ear-led singing session at the Paul Street Community Centre. No sheet music, no pressure — just folk, gospel and pop songs in good company.

And on Tuesday, it's live theatre, but not as you know it. Shed-Ache lands in Shepton Mallet's Create8 venue at 10:30am, promising a family-friendly mix of dance, comedy, balance, buckets and sunflowers. It's described as "seriously silly" — and for £3 a ticket, it's a weekday treat for home educators or just anyone up for a giggle.

Wells rounds out the week on Thursday with Fun Dancing for Wellbeing and Joy at Ston Easton Village Hall. Helena Eden's back with her joyful dance sessions to classic tunes — think easy-to-follow moves and a mix of high and low energy, depending on how your New Year's resolutions are holding up. Drop-in is £10, or get a five-class pass for £42.50.
