The city of Wells is alive with music as the Sound of Wells Festival 2023 continues to resonate. Running from Thursday, May 18th through to Sunday, May 21st, this festival is a symphony of local and international talent, showcasing renowned choirs and ensembles. Check the official festival website for specific performance times and ticket information.

On Saturday, May 20th, the melodious strains of Vaughan Williams's "Toward the Unknown Region" and Jenkins's "The Armed Man" will fill St Cuthbert's Wells. This performance is part of a fundraiser for the Somerset Choral Society.

As the sun begins to set, the live covers band Big Mamma's Banned promises an evening full of energy and great music at Wells Golf Club. On Saturday, May 20th, doors will open and food will be available from 6:30 pm. Tickets for this unforgettable night are priced at £10 and can be purchased here.

On the evening of Saturday, May 20th, the Wells and Mendip Astronomers invite you to a meeting where you can learn about observing Venus and Mercury. Taking place from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at the Wells & Mendip Museum, 8 Cathedral Green, this gathering offers both in-person and online attendance options. Tickets for adults are £5, for students £3, and a family rate is available for £7.50

Come Sunday, May 21st, Wells offers a Freecycle event from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Taking place in the private car park in Priory Road, this event sees all items given away for free, promoting sustainability and community spirit.

Don't forget to check out the range of films showing at the Wells Film Centre from Friday, May 19th to Thursday, May 25th. A perfect way to unwind after a day full of exciting events.
