It's a truly Jubilee-tastic long weekend ahead in Wells, with a whole programme of events planned.

Here are just a few highlights....

Thursday, June 2

Beacon Lighting Ceremony at The Cheese Yard

This Thursday at 9.45pm, beacons will be lit all around the country in honour of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, including one at The Cheese Yard in West Horrington. Enjoy, food, drink and live music from 8pm.

Sunday, June 5

Wells Theatre Festival on the Cathedral Green

At 2.30pm, catch the cast of Twelth Night perform a brand new song that will be part of the production during the festival in July.

The Portraits on Wells Bandstand

There's a full afternoon of performances planned on the Bandstand on Sunday, but if you only make one of them, we'd definitely recommend heading there at 3.30pm to catch The Portraits!

En-masse choral rendition of Jerusalem with Croscombe Orchestra

At 5.20pm get your flags at the ready and join in a rousing sing-along.

Meet the Daleks at the Bishop's Palace

Visiting from their home planet of Skaro, Daleks will be 'invading' Wells with some extra-terrestrial special friends.

Join them for special Q&A session in the Palace's Undercroft to find out all the answers to your burning Dalek questions – who even knows there might even be a Doctor in the house!

Judge Jefferies Pageant

Taking place a couple of times over the afternoon will be the interpretation of the Bloody Assizes presided over in Wells by Judge Jefferies in 1685, which looks like it will be a lot of fun!
