Somerstock is a family-friendly music festival in the heart of Somerset. 2023 sees the introduction of a Friday night of music on the 7th July, before a full day of bands and family fun on Saturday 8th July. The festival site is on the edge of Somerton, with on-site parking and camping available.

Here's a round-up of some of the events taking place this weekend:

On Saturday 15th April at 7:30 pm, "Make Me Dance" will be performed at Croscombe Village Hall. This dance show explores the drive within all of us to create and is sure to inspire both performers and audiences alike.

If you're interested in exploring the historic side of Wells, why not join the "Walk the High Parts 2023" tour on Saturday 15th April at 11:15 am? The tour takes place at Wells Cathedral and takes you on a journey through some of the lesser-known parts of the cathedral.

On Sunday 16th April, Somerset Film will host an outdoor film screening at the Bandstand in the Rec. The Kinokotch Street Cinema Project for Wells began in September 2022 with a series of filmmaking workshops for Mendip residents with a view to commissioning the making of a new short film inspired by and located in Wells. It was on one of these workshops that five local women over the age of 60 met each other and turned their hands to filmmaking for the first time.

The resulting film "We Have Nothing But Each Other" will be screened for free in the Wells Recreation Ground, by the bandstand, directly before a screening of the feature film "Woman at War" (Cert 12), an entertaining Icelandic-Ukrainian comedy-drama. Audiences are encouraged to bring their camping chairs and blankets to enjoy these two films under the stars.

The screening, called "Kinokotch," will take place from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

On Fri Apr 14 at 7.30pm, Wells Golf Club will be hosting an unforgettable Whitney Houston tribute night, "I'm Every Whitney: The Sensational Tribute," led by the amazing Kieshia Chun. Get ready to be transported back in time as the Queen of the Night performs the unforgettable hits of the Queen of Pop.

Don't miss out on this fantastic event! Tickets are available for only £10. To secure your place, call 01749 675005 (opt3) or visit the bar to book.

Hungry? Food will also be available on the night from 6:30 pm. Come along and experience a night to remember with the amazing Kieshia Chun and her sensational Whitney Houston tribute.

And last, but not least - fancy catching a film? At Wells Film Centre you can catch up with the following releases:

  • John Wick: Chapter 4 [15]
  • Mummies [U]
