A yellow helicopter has been circling around Wells this afternoon - but it is not the air ambulance.

Western Power Distribution (WPD) has confirmed that its yellow chopper has been performing checks in Wells and the surrounding area today.

The helicopter crew have been performing routine checks on the overhead power lines, looking for anything untoward that might cause issues for the power network.

A spokesperson for Western Power Distribution said that if any problems are found, the helicopter crew would report to the local WPD office, who would then send out a team to investigate.
