A man from Westbury-sub-Mendip is in the running for an Emmy® Award.

Actor James Lance grew up in the village not far from Wells, and now he has been nominated for "Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series" for his role as newspaper reporter Trent Crimm in the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso.

With 20 Emmy nominations, Ted Lasso is the most nominated comedy series at this year's awards.

James Lance is known for Northern Soul (2014), Bronson (2008) and Marie Antoinette (2006), as well as his role on Alan Partridge and Teachers.

Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis as an American football coach, hired to manage an English soccer team n an attempt by its owner to spite her ex-husband. Lasso tries to win over the skeptical English market with his folksy, optimistic demeanor while dealing with his inexperience in the sport.
