Teams are being urged to register for the inaugural Great Sedan Chair Steeplechase, set to take place at Wells Recreation Ground on Sunday, 29th September. Organised by Wells Rotary, the event promises to be an exciting day filled with fun and creativity.

Exciting Challenges Await

Members of Wells Rotary have been busy finalising the course and designing a series of challenging obstacles for participants to navigate. One particularly tricky task will require teams to dismantle and reassemble their sedan chair mid-race.

Get Involved

Event organiser Jon Savery is calling on clubs, businesses, and organisations to assemble five-member teams for the race. “We hope this will capture people’s imaginations and become an annual event,” Savery said, inviting participants to join in the excitement.

Support from the Mayor

The event has received the backing of Wells Mayor Jasmine Browne, who enthusiastically tried out a sedan chair herself on Cathedral Green.

Entry Details

The entry fee is £25 per team, with all proceeds going to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. “The air ambulance is a charity that we feel is a popular one which does so much good,” Savery added.
