Wells' Swan Hotel reopens tomorrow with fresh new look – and a bar makeover

One of Somerset's best-known hotels is throwing open its doors tomorrow after a two-week revamp – complete with a new bar, spruced-up reception and a nod to its Hollywood past.
The Swan Hotel in Wells, which famously featured in Hot Fuzz, has been shut for the last fortnight while builders got to work behind the scenes. Now, staff are preparing to welcome guests back from Saturday (May 31) with a refreshed interior and a brand-new bar area.
In a statement, the hotel said: "We look forward to unveiling the finished work to you."
The 600-year-old hotel sits in the heart of Wells and has long been a favourite with visitors – including a few famous faces. It's packed with historic features like 16th-century beams, cast-iron balconies and vaulted stone cellars, and even had a makeover back in 1885 when a rear wing was added.
The latest refurbishment follows a planning application submitted earlier this year for new signage, lighting and internal improvements – all designed to give the building a facelift without losing its historic charm.
