Wells could soon see the rebirth of Sherston House - formerly the Railway Hotel and Sherston Inn - into a boutique guest house.

A planning application outlines a vision to not only maintain the existing five guest bedrooms but also to remodel the internal spaces, including converting part of the ground floor into a residential flat for the owner.

The proposal includes demolishing a "tired and worn out" single-storey extension on the southeast side of the main building. In its place, plans call for the construction of a new extension that will act as a modern day room.

The proposed new structure is designed to resemble an orangery or conservatory, featuring natural stone with timber doors and windows, and a flat roof topped with a glazed lantern.

Local residents and interested parties are encouraged to view and comment on the plans, with a public consultation open until Tuesday, June 4.
