There will be roadworks and a lane closure on the Strawberry Way Roundabout in Wells this week.

From Tuesday May 26 to June 2, Truespeed will be working on the roundabout itself, in Strawberry Way and in Priory Road.

The work will be at off-peak times only and will involve a lane closure. The works are to build a cabinet, connect it to a power supply, and excavate a trench in the verge and pavement to lay a duct and fibre optic cable.

The temporary traffic lights scheduled to be in place at the junction of Hawkers Lane and Bath Road, and in Elm Close, for Truespeed works should all be removed by the end of Tuesday.

Other roadworks in the Wells area this week include:

From Wednesday May 27 to Friday May 29, there will be temporary traffic lights in North Road, to enable Bristol Water to repair a leak.

There will be stop and go traffic control for a day at some point between Friday and June 11 in Bath Road, near South Horrington, to enable Somerset Highways to do surface dressing works.

Month-long permits for scaffolding to be put up are scheduled to start on Tuesday in Union Street and on Thursday May 28 in St Thomas Street.

Finally, BT's work to install a poly duct in the pavement in Kings Castle Road is scheduled to be completed by Wednesday.
