Tucker Street in Wells will be shut for four days from Monday, 2 June 2025, for Bristol Water's maintenance.

Drivers in Wells are being warned to expect disruption next week as part of Tucker Street is set to shut for four days.

The closure will kick in on Monday 2 June, shutting off the stretch between the junction with West Street and the Tesco Superstore – a total of 57 metres – so Bristol Water can "replace a service".

The road will be completely closed, 24 hours a day, until Wednesday 5 June, with all traffic diverted along Princes Street, Priory Road and Strawberry Way (A39).

Tesco will stay open, and shoppers will still be able to get to the entrance via the top of Tucker Street and Brownes Place. Tucker Street Car Park will also remain accessible throughout the works.

Pedestrians won't be left stranded either – a walkway will be provided while the works are under way.

Bristol Water said the closure is essential to carry out service replacement works. But locals are being urged to plan ahead and expect delays, especially during busy periods.
