Artist Mick Abbott's latest exhibition, Paradise and other places, delves deep into the intricate cycles of human life—from birth to death and even what lies beyond.

But what sets this exhibition apart is its integration of the community: Abbott is actively inviting people who live and work in and around Wells to become a part of this evocative display.

Aiming to capture the essence of the seven ages of man, Abbott seeks to marry modern elements with medieval themes to showcase the universal journey of human belief and experience. The exhibition will be hosted in Wells Cathedral's Chapter House from 28 September to 19 October 2023, accessible during the Cathedral's regular opening hours.

How can Wells residents get involved? It's quite straightforward. Those interested in participating are invited to send a relaxed, natural headshot taken on their phone to [email protected]. The artist is open to submissions from individuals of any age and from all walks of life, making it a truly inclusive endeavour.

The inclusion of local faces is not just a novel touch but an embodiment of Abbott's theme: the timeless experience of belief and the human journey is reflected in each and every individual, and what better way to illustrate this than by incorporating those from the exhibition's host city.

If being a part of a unique, community-centric art project interests you, don't hesitate. Be it young or old, a native or a newcomer, your face could add another layer to this exploration of human experience and belief.

Admission to Paradise and other places is included with your entry to Wells Cathedral. For more information, visit the Cathedral's website at www.wellscathedral.org.uk.
