The Wells Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) will be in town tomorrow for a free bike marking event, designed to promote bike security and deter theft.

The event is scheduled to take place at Halfords in Wells on Saturday, May 20th, from 3 to 5 pm.

Bike marking offers bike owners an effective measure to safeguard their bicycles against theft while allowing them to engage with the local police team in a friendly setting. By marking their bikes, owners can enhance the chances of recovery in case of theft and discourage potential thieves from targeting their valuable assets.

All members of the community are welcome to attend the event, regardless of their cycling experience or the type of bicycle they own. The process of bike marking is quick, straightforward, and hassle-free.

"The bike marking event serves as an essential initiative to combat bike theft and enhance community safety," said a police spokesperson. "By participating in this event, bike owners play an active role in safeguarding their valuable possessions and making Wells a less attractive target for criminals. We encourage all bike owners in the area to take advantage of this free service and join us for an afternoon dedicated to bike security.

"Bike theft not only causes financial loss but can also be deeply distressing for the victims. Our bike marking event is a proactive step towards mitigating these incidents and ensuring peace of mind for cyclists. We look forward to welcoming the community and working together to protect their bikes and uphold the spirit of safety within Wells."
