A video showing that Wells police are just as capable as their Sanford counterparts when it comes to dealing with errant swans has surfaced online.

The video, believed to have been taken at the end of February, shows a crowd of highly amused onlookers watching the scene unfold as the police attempt to round up the swan ('about two foot tall, long slender neck, kinda orange and black bill') one person can't help but quote from the cult comedy filmed in the city, Hot Fuzz.

And the officer gently trying to coax the swan out of the road - who has clearly been waiting for this moment all his life - has the perfect response.

The video appeared on r/CasualUK, posted by u/Mauhea.

For those who are (somehow) unfamiliar with the film, "Hot Fuzz" is a 2007 action comedy directed by Edgar Wright and starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

The film is set in the fictional town of Sandford, which is based on the real-life city of Wells, where it was filmed.

It follows the adventures of tough ex-Met Police officer PC Nicholas Angel and his inexperienced partner, PC Danny Butterman, as they investigate a series of strange events in the town.

The (greater) good news is that Mendip Police succeeded in apprehending this swan, which they then took to a wildlife centre, and the city's supermarket is still standing.
