Wells Market wraps up Christmas in a bow of festive cheer

By Laura Linham 18th Dec 2023

On December 16, the historic heart of Wells transformed into a winter wonderland as traders gathered for the annual Christmas market.

Over 100 stalls lined the Market Place and Bishop's Palace Green in the famous mediaeval city, offering visitors a unique selection of gifts, crafts, and festive treats.

The market is known for its artisan quality and festive feel has seen growth over the years. This year, the warm and dry day helped to bring shoppers out in their droves.

The market's official opening was led by Wells Crier, Len Sweales, and Somerset Council's lead member for communities, housing and culture, Councillor Federica Smith-Roberts.
