The Elms, a 100-home development on Elm Close in Wells, will launch in October with three, four and five-bedroom properties.

A major new housing development bringing 100 homes to Wells is set to launch next month.

The Elms, on Elm Close, will open for sales in October, giving prospective buyers their first opportunity to explore the David Wilson Redrow South West development.

The scheme will feature a mix of three, four and five-bedroom properties and is located just minutes from Wells city centre.

Plans include affordable housing as well as new green space, a play area and improvements to walking and cycling links around the site.

The developer says the scheme will include 40 affordable homes. More than £840,000 is also due to be contributed through Section 106 agreements towards local infrastructure, facilities and community initiatives.

Homes will feature photovoltaic solar panels, electric vehicle charging points and water and energy-saving technology which the developer says is designed to reduce energy consumption and household bills.

Outside the homes themselves, the plans include landscaped green spaces, a new play area and an attenuation pond forming part of the development's drainage network.

Changes are also planned to pedestrian and cycling infrastructure around the site.

A new access junction will be created on Elm Close, alongside a footpath and cycle lane along the northern edge of the development. Existing public footpaths will be upgraded and three new pedestrian crossings are planned, including one providing a link with the neighbouring New House Farm development.

The Elms sits close to Wells city centre, with the A371 and A39 providing road connections towards Bristol, Bath and the M5.

Sales are expected to begin in October, with further details available from The Elms development website.
