Wells Festive Windows competition raises hundreds of pounds for hospice
A WELLS Festive Windows competition has raised nearly £500 for St Margaret's Hospice.
The competition, organised by Wells pom pom dancer Tina Blackwill, saw 43 businesses take part.Tina and Wells Town Crier Len Sweales judged the entries on December 3 and 4 before declaring Rock House Dental Practice the winner.
"I couldn't believe the amount of effort and work everybody had gone to," said Tina.
"I was completely overwhelmed and impressed with everybody's unique ideas and artistic flair, it was just wonderful."Len said: "I was so impressed with everybody's efforts, there was some real unique ideas, people really thought outside the box, everyone went to so much effort."
In second place behind Rock House was Natural Pets of Wells, and in third place was Ye Olde Sweet Shop.
Tina said: "Rock House was just beautiful. They decorated six windows, each one differently. I loved the variety, colours, ideas and overall look, it was just stunning."
Len said of Rock House: "The overall appearance was very, very good, all six windows decorated to a very high standard."
Rock House Dental Practice received a £100 Christmas hamper from Chew Valley Farm for winning the competition.
Tina thanked everybody who entered the competition, and the businesses who donated money to St Margaret's Hospice; £470 was raised for the charity.
She hopes to hold the competition again next Christmas.
