Wells embraces the festive season with a line-up of awesome events

As Christmas nears, Wells is wrapped in a festive cloak of events, beginning with the enchanting transformation of Wookey Hole into a Winter Wonderland, running until December 23rd.
This captivating display sets the tone for a season filled with warmth and joy.
Adding to the festive spirit, Wells Cathedral offers an array of Christmas services. On December 23rd, families can partake in Crib Services at 2 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., where children are encouraged to dress as shepherds, angels, wise men, or even superheroes. The same evening, at 6 p.m., the Cathedral Carol Service unfolds, with the Cathedral Choir leading traditional carols and readings.
Christmas Eve at the Cathedral is a day of serene celebration, starting with Carols at the Crib at 5:15 p.m., an atmospheric service that concludes with a procession to the Crib. The day culminates with the Eucharist of Christmas Night at 11 p.m., a candlelit celebration featuring music by the Vicars Choral and Schola Cantorum.
Christmas Day dawns with the Eucharist of Christmas Day at 9:30 a.m., inviting the community to enjoy festive carols, followed by Choral Matins at 11:30 a.m., both services featuring the Cathedral Choir's uplifting music.
Away from the Cathedral, St Cuthbert's Church hosts a Morning Worship on Christmas Eve from 10:00 to 11:00 am, offering a peaceful start to the day. The evening's cheer continues with Sam Evans Music at the Wookey Hole Inn from 6:00 pm, promising a melodious Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Day, Christ Church, Henton, welcomes all at 10:30 am for a Benefice Christmas Day Service, encapsulating the essence of the holiday spirit.
The celebrations continue post-Christmas. December 26th features a Drum & Bass Rave at Kudos, perfect for dancing away the festive indulgence. On the 28th, adults seeking a break can enjoy an exclusive evening at Ocean Adventurers Soft Play in Cheddar from 7:30 pm.
The year's grand finale in Wells includes the New Year's Eve Gala Party at The Crossways in North Wootton, starting at 6:00 pm, and One-Two Live performing at The Tramways from 9:00 pm, ensuring a vibrant welcome to 2024.
From Wookey Hole's magical start to the final countdown at The Tramways, Wells' festive line-up is a rich mosaic of events, offering music, worship, and celebration, weaving a memorable end to the year for residents and visitors alike.
