Wells has been named the top city in the UK for Christmas shopping this year.

Despite its status as England's smallest city, consumer champion Which? has placed Wells at the pinnacle of festive shopping experiences.

This prestigious ranking was based on a comprehensive survey conducted by Which?, involving over 3,000 of its members.

They rated their recent stays in more than 50 cities across the UK. Wells emerged not only as the best small city but also as the top city break in the country.

One of the key factors contributing to Wells' top ranking is its unique blend of cultural sights and a more relaxed shopping experience.

Unlike the hustle and bustle commonly associated with festive shopping in larger cities, Wells scored a perfect five stars for its lack of crowds, offering a more serene and enjoyable shopping atmosphere.

Which? also praised Wells for its harmonious blend of well-known brands and local charm. "

Big brands such as Fat Face and White Stuff are along the main high street, while the market, a focal point in the town for centuries, is just a short walk away. It has a range of stalls selling fresh produce and artisan crafts every Wednesday and Saturday between 9am and 3pm," Which? stated.
