Crime recorded in Wells City rose in March 2026, with police figures showing 91 offences during the month.

That was 31 more than in February, when 60 crimes were recorded.

Violent crime was the largest category in both months. In March, 29 violent crimes were recorded in Wells City, up from 19 in February.

Violent crime can include assaults, threats of violence and some harassment-related offences.

Anti-social behaviour also rose, from seven reports in February to 15 in March. This category often covers nuisance behaviour, intimidation, harassment or activity causing alarm in public places.

Public order offences increased from nine to 11. These can include threatening, abusive or disorderly behaviour in public.

Shoplifting was one of the few categories to fall, dropping from 11 offences in February to 10 in March.

Burglary rose from three offences to five. Burglary involves unlawful entry into a building with intent to steal, cause damage or commit another offence.

Criminal damage and arson rose sharply, from one offence in February to seven in March. This can include damage to homes, vehicles, businesses or public property.

Robbery increased from two offences to three. Robbery involves theft using force, or the threat of force.

Vehicle crime rose from one offence to four. This can include theft from vehicles, theft of vehicles or interference with vehicles.

Other theft remained unchanged, with three offences recorded in both February and March. This category covers theft offences not counted separately as burglary, shoplifting, robbery or vehicle crime.

Four offences were listed as other crime in March, a category used for offences that do not fit the main headings.

Drug offences, possession of weapons and theft from the person appeared in February's figures but were not listed in the March figures provided.
